Treat yourself to a feast of theatre over Ascension weekend, with the chance to see up to 12 one-act plays. The ECC is hosting the 2016 Festival of European Anglophone Theatrical Societies (FEATS) at the Woluwe St.Pierre Cultural Centre. The festival is an annual competition between English-speaking amateur theatrical groups resident in mainland Europe to see who can put on the best production. It consists of four evenings of first-class entertainment, with three one-act plays per evening. The 12 competing groups can perform either published plays or original scripts, for a minimum of 25 minutes and a maximum 50, under the critical eye of a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators.
There have been some stunning performances over the years, ranging from outrageously funny to deeply moving to simply breathtaking. Some participants have gone on to win other competitions, some original scripts have been published. The standard is high.
Three Brussels-based groups are taking part, the Brussels Shakespeare Society, the Irish Theatre Group and the English Youth Theatre, so come along and support your friends and local talent. You can attend for one, two, three or all four nights.
